Flyweight –

Dale Robinson Drew with Chris Edwards – 115-113, 113-115 and 114-114

Prediction – Robinson win by late stoppage or points

Well lightning nearly did strike twice, give Edwards the credit he looked a much improved fighter. Edwards started well and looked to have the snappier punches while Robinson looked a little laboured and was pushing his shots out rather than throwing them, he did try to load up a few times but he wasn’t catching Edwards cleanly. Robinson started to warm to the task in the second to the fifth and looked a lot more fluent with his work and started to look like he would outclass Edwards, but Edwards was always fighting back and there were some very tight rounds.

In the 6th Robinson came on strong and opened up two cuts which by the eighth required the doctor to check them and confirmed Edwards was fine to continue. This sparked a new leash of life for Edwards and he went after Robinson, a clash of heads opened up a severe cut on Robinsons left eye, by the middle of the 9th Round the cut was bleeding profusely and looked very deep. The referee asked the doctor to check the cut and with various shakes of heads and Robinson pleading for the fight not to be stopped he was advised he had one round left. Robinson was under pressure and tried to unload on Edwards but again Edwards stepped up another gear and started to catch Robinson with some heavy shots which slowed him down.

The Corner did a great job on Robinsons eye at the end of the 9th and he was allowed out for the tenth, still thinking it was his last round Robinson tried to rally again, Edwards gave back as good as he got, towards the end of the round Robinson started to look really fatigued and Edwards was on his toes stealing the rounds. The 11th went Edwards way and this time a nasty cut opened on Robinsons other eye and bled into his eye. In the 12th Robinson gave it his all but again tired towards the end and allowed Edwards in.

The fight was very close, I possibly edged the points for Edwards but the judges ruled the contest a draw. Well done Edwards great display, Robinson was better prepared this time around but still didn’t look at his best.

Light Middleweight –

Jamie Moore beat Sebastian Andres Lujan on points 119-110

Prediction - Moore win on Points

Not the fight we all expected, Lujan showed sparks of why he is regarded as one of the best in the division but his efforts were very sporadic. Moore dominated the fight from the start and work hard to keep Lujan out.

Lujan spent most of the fight leaning on the ropes and throwing the occasional arm punch which didn’t trouble Moore in the slightest. The fight looked like it would go to points very early on, Moore was landing some great straight left hands and hooks but they had little effect on the strong Lujan.

On the few occasions Lujan did open up he looked strong and quick but only showed glimpses of what the fight could have been. Lujan looked more like an old man in for the payday, not a 27 year old looking for another title shot. Moore did nothing wrong and must be a little disappointed that Lujan didn’t come to fight. It wasn’t the same fighter that pushed Antonio Margarito to the limit that turned up here tonight. Good points win for Moore though and it moves him further up the rankings and must be looking for a title shot soon.

Welterweight –

Zab Judah v Ruben Galvan – No Contest

Prediction - Judah win by late stoppage

Judah can consider himself very unlucky, he looked like he would be in for an easy night as he unloaded on Galvan, causing a nasty cut on Galvan’s forehead with a punch, which the referee deemed it was caused by use of the head and the fight was stopped and called a no contest.

Light Middleweight –

David Estrada beat David Toribio – TKO 4th Round

Prediction - Estrada win by KO before 5th Round

As described an easy night for Estrada winning by stoppage after 4 rounds after completely dominating Toribio, a confidence builder and time for Estrada to get back in with the big boys.
