Heavyweight –

Ruslan Chageav beat Nikoly Valuev – Points – 117-111, 114-114 and 115-113 for the WBA Heavyweight Title

Prediction - Chageav to win points

The new WBA Heavyweight Champion Ruslan Chageav put on a brave display to over come nearly a foot in height and around 90lbs in weight to be crowned the new Champion and also take away the possibility of Valuev beating Rocky Marciano’s long standing record.

Valuev to his credit has vastly improved since becoming Champion and put on a credited display, for the whole fight. Chageav proved he is the man to beat in the Division become the first man to slay the beast, against all the odds.

Super Featherweight –

Manny Pacquiao beat Jorge Solis – TKO in the 8th Round

Prediction - Pacquiao to win on points

Another fantastic performance from Pacquiao proving he is the best at the weight, lining up a possible re-match with Juan Manuel Marquez. He knocked down Solis twice in the eight before the action was halted. Solis had previously never been stopped in 34 fights.

Super Flyweight -

Cristian Mijares beat Jorge Arce – points 119-109, 118-110 and 117-111 for the WBC Super Flyweight Title

Prediction - Mijares points win

This turned out to be a easier night for Champion Mijares than what was previously thought. He dominated Arce from start to finish and won a wide points decision, the step up in weight was more than Arce could handle. The result went against what most experts thought.

Light Flyweight –

Edgar Sosa Beat Brian Viloria – points 115-113, 115-113 and 114-114 for the WBC Light Flyweight Title

Prediction - Sosa win on points

A cracking battle, Sosa makes it 15 wins in his last 15 fights and snatched a close points decision. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw these to in the ring again they put on a great show. Viloria now without a win in his last three will be back.

Light Middleweight –

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr beat Anthony Shuler – by 2nd Round KO

Prediction - Chavez win by KO before 6th Round

What can Chavez be learning from all these opponents falling over in front of him, his record is now 31-0-1, with a record like that you would at least expect a Title Shot, however there hasn’t been one yet, nor does it look like there will be one anytime soon.

Hopefully an aging Michael Stewart will put up a better test for Chavez in his next fight in June.

Light Welterweight –

Victor Ortiz beat Tomas Barrientes – 5th Round TKO

Prediction - Ortiz to win by KO before the 5th Round

Another great win for Ortiz, he should be looking for a step up in class soon, and hopefully will get a chance for a re-match with the unbeaten Marvin Cordova Jr after the first fight ended far too soon, Ortiz is undefeated in the ring barring a disqualification.
